Hakubas central location makes it a mecca for Japanese outdoor sports lovers in all seasons. Only recently discovered on the map of many foreign travelers, Hakuba remains quaintly Japanese. Of particular note in the Green Season are local cultural activities. In Winter, aside from the massive snow levels, foreign visitors to Hakuba find several festivals and nearby temples well worth a days jaunt away from the ski fields.

Hot springs

The Centuries-old tradition of Onsen; considered by many people to a contributing factor for the increased life-span of Japanese people versus people from Western countries; is a big part of life in Hakuba. After a hard days work; a day on the slopes; or just for one in need of quiet contemplation; a good long soak in a natural volcanic hot spring is just the thing to ease body and mind.
